One of the oldest tribes of Assam is popularly known as “ Dimasa ”. The Dimasa tribe particularly occupies a special status in the history of Assam contributing its cultural heritage towards making the tradition of the tribal community spontaneous. As per the sources, Dimasas are one of the communities in the North-Eastern part of India that underwent a process of state formation in pre-modern times.
