The Pala dynasty was a Buddhist dynasty that existed from the early 7th CE to the early 12th CE founded by Gopala I (approximately in 750 century). It covered the Indian subcontinent of present-day Bengal and Bihar. The Pala word came from the Prakit language which means “protector”.
